A few years ago, I wrote about two people I knew who both had terrible bouts with cancer. One died within a year, the other fought it with every experimental treatment they could find. One had a gracious attitude, the other bitter.

The beginning of August brought the death of the second person. He rallied right before he went but he still left. And he had a chance to reconcile himself to what God had asked of him and his family. He went with peace.

We ran into the first person’s husband at the Annual Sidewalk Show. He just announced his engagement to another woman he met in Canada. His oldest daughter was married recently. Their other two children are in school and working at successful jobs.
